Quad Recording Studios

Quad Recording Studios is a reputable and well known professional recording studio in Times Square, New York that has hosted sessions for many popular musicians such as Pop Smoke, Lil Baby, Sam Smith, and Coldplay, and notably for being the scene of a shooting involving Tupac Shakur in 1994.

Quad Studios is where Joshua and Mr. Based has recorded several of his tracks and has streamed multiple times.

Due to many of Josh’s crashouts, Mr. Based’s behaviour, and various swattings, both are now no longer welcome at the studio anymore.

During the many visits to the studio prior to the ban, the audio engineers that work there have been subject to numerous text to speech donations that have been very harassing in nature, often intentionally not monitored or filtered by Mr. Based. Although, they were tipped generously several times for the trouble.

October 2nd Crashout / "Whiskey Neat" and "Drink on" Recordings

During this session, Josh recorded his own covers of ’Too Sweet’ by Hozier and ‘Dream On’ by Aerosmith.

Firstly, Josh recorded ‘Too Sweet’ on a backing track, which, due to Josh's terrible vocal abilities, had to be heavily edited with Auto-Tune for a somewhat listenable experience. The final result was heavily reliant on Auto-Tune, and very bad, with Josh still being completely out of key and having poor timing.

Before he was about to cover ‘Dream On’, Josh started to crash out hard, he was screaming and crying, as he was paranoid about men being after him, who claimed that they knew which hotel and room he was at and that they were after his passport, which came about through various TTS donations, and particularly through some unknown person who found Josh's personal number and decided to call him directly to troll him. He threatened to whoever was on the phone that he will sue them and kill them, and that he "is from the Bronx". The call ended, and Josh attempted to put his phone on Airplane Mode to stop the calls interrupting as he was trying to read the lyrics of the song he was recording online, but this attempt failed, and it resulted in him getting an endless barrage of calls which made him extremely angry, threatening to "smash his phone". Mr. Based, concerned about being kicked out the studio, tried to calm him down by singing "Rock-a-bye Baby", which Josh didn't appreciate. Josh, still furious, stated that "he wanted to kill someone".

After this, he calmed down enough to go and cover ‘Dream On’, which was done with no Auto-Tune effects and truly showed Josh's inabilities as a singer. Still a little agitated, and probably self-aware of his inabilities, he was becoming increasingly frustrated whilst attempting to get takes down, often screaming "AGGGGHHHHH" and "I messed up!", and then biting his arm.

Another TTS donation came through after Josh left the vocal booth, claiming that they were going to steal his TikTok account, which Josh responded angrily.

More trolls donated via TTS, and Josh became increasingly upset, saying that he "doesn't like his life", and that his "life is terrible". Notably, as he was crying, ‘Roaring Thunder’ by another popular lolcow Daniel Larson was playing over the studio speakers, as Mr. Based thought Josh should cover it. Josh was still concerned about people stealing his passport and his potential inability of not going on his cruise that was coming up, he started biting his arm again. He then called his grandfather explaining his concerns, and he was convinced there were people outside of the studio with kitchen knives. Meanwhile, the audio engineer was keeping very quiet on his phone with his back turned, actively trying to not get involved, although Josh was asking him for his advice.

During this entire time, the audio engineer was trying very hard to keep professional, and to not to burst out in laughter during when Josh was 'singing', although he did have some memorable reactions. This and this image basically sums up the session.

After the session was over, as he and Mr. Based were leaving to get a taxi back to the apartment, Josh had another memorable crashout when he got mocked and laughed at by a few young men who were waiting for him outside the studio and started screaming and intending to attack them. Amidst the chaos, due to his drunken manic state of flailing his arms about and running around attacking and retreating from the young men being completely tunnel visioned and fixated on them, he was unintentionally hit by a cyclist which causing him to drop his phone, and accused one of the men that it was them, all the while, Mr. Based was recording the entire time, and tried to get Josh to stop trying to attack them, calm down and get into a taxi nearby. This is one of the first popular crashouts that featured Josh biting his arm and rapidly gnashing his teeth like a wild animal.

October 22nd Session

November 14th Session / Lost Phone/Alana Incident

On November 14th 2024, Mr. Based and Josh met a young woman named Alana at a bar a night before this incident on stream, and they got talking. The next night on the 15th, Mr. Based was able to convince Alana to come to his apartment by herself to be featured on the livestream in order to get some "content" with Josh, later that night he planned to go to Quad Recording Studios for Josh to record some songs and Alana agreed to come with.

As were in the taxi going to the studio, Alana realised that she didn't have her phone on her, and she became very concerned. She checked the taxi, but it wasn't there. She requested Mr. Based and Josh to help her find it, asking to go back to the apartment, and then to use their respective phones to access her Apple account and Find My iPhone (something that could be done within 5-10 minutes), but the two declined every request and wasn't interested in helping her, with Mr. Based saying that she's probably left it at the apartment and that she shouldn't be concerned, and Josh making up excuses to not give her access to his phone. Mr. Based tried to justify his unwillingness to help as that he paid $700 for the studio time and they were already one hour late.

Understandably, Alana became very withdrawn given that she was with these two men that she's only known for about 24 hours, one being a former pimp with questionable ethics towards women, and that they are both completely insensitive to the perspective of a young woman who didn't have anyone she trusted like a friend with her.

Text to speech donations started coming in real time warning Alana that Mr Based is dangerous due to his notoriety of immoral behaviour towards young women, referencing Julia Sumnicht and accusing Mr. Based of hiding her phone intentionally, and pointing out that both Mr. Based and Josh were being unreasonable and indifferent to her concerns, which made her increasingly uncomfortable.

Alana, who now effectively has stay with Mr. Based and Josh at the studio, due to the possibility that her phone may still be in the apartment, told Mr. Based that he was being rude and insensitive to her situation. Mr. Based told her that she "ruined the stream over her phone", and he prioritised filming Josh over listening to what Alana was trying to convey to him, such as cutting her off mid-sentence to focus on Josh yelling because he unintentionally walked in on someone in the restroom.

In a glimmer of humanity, concerned viewers used TTS reassuring Alana that they looked back at the stream footage and saw her phone on the table in the apartment, and that Mr. Based did not intentionally hide it, which was true, although this wasn't completely confirmed at the time so Alana was still concerned. Mr. Based seized on this opportunity and asked viewers to donate $200 to "kick her out" and go back to the apartment, cutting short the studio time. In which, a $200 donation did come through minutes later, but he was apprehensive about going back immediately, telling Alana that she can wait outside the studio in the lobby until they were done recording "in 25 minutes", effectively kicking her out.

Fortunately for Alana, the sound engineer gave access to his phone for her to access Find My iPhone, and offstream she got her phone back and was ok after this incident.

As a result of this incident, this session was very unproductive for Josh, with barely any recordings being completed.

In summary, this incident really demonstrated how uncooperative, insensitive and apathetic both Mr. Based and Josh are towards women, and was a big turning point for many viewers on the opinion of them both.

January 3rd Swatted
